Paper band filter

The paper band coolant filtration systems are the simplest and oldest forms of coolant filtration systems. It works on the principle of 'dirt cake formation,' i.e., dirt can build-up on the filter media. This dirt cake helps capture dirt in the incoming dirty coolant; hence the dirt capturing dirt phenomenon is used in this type of system. A standard magnetic separator is added to improve the paper band coolant filtration's efficiency, especially in surface grinding machines.

Working of paper band coolant filtration system- 

• Filter media is laid on a belt, which is fitted on a tank.
• Dirty coolant drops on the media either by gravity or it is pumped.
• After passing through the filter media, the clean coolant is collected in the tank below and is pumped back to the machine.
• When the filter media chokes, the level starts rising above the media. A level switch senses this, and a geared motor conveys out dirty media.
