Lapping is a machining process used to achieve super-flat surfaces and incredibly tight tolerances on parts that require accuracy at the microscopic level. The lapping operation is more gentle than both superfinishing and honing and removes much less of the surface material. 

Traditional lapping operations have taken on a new dimension of accuracy and precision. For example, in double wheel lapping – often referred to as fine grinding – the abrasive wheels far exceed the 0.0002- to 0.0003-inch tolerances of conventional grinders, and it takes that 0.025 inches of stock of both sides simultaneously within 4 to 5 minutes. The result is a new level of “flatness” and concentricity not previously obtainable.

We solve the following problems with our oil filtration systems in lapping operations.

  1. Our systems maintain the oil viscosity to its optimum level by not allowing dirt build-up. Dirty oil makes it viscous and creates a thick lubricant film between the lapping plate and workpiece, and the lapping powder may lose contact with the surfaces to be machined. 
  2. The lapping oil maintains an excellent dispersing capacity to prevent lapping powder’s fast sedimentation and prevent grains’ accumulation with our systems.
  3. The pure oil coming out of our system allows for good wetting for the lapping medium’s fast and easy preparation and homogeneous distribution on the lapping plate.
