HSS Grinding Oil Filtration
High-Speed Steel or HSS has different characteristics than carbide. HSS scrap does not have the same resale value as carbide; however, unfiltered HSS dust causes the same harm to grinding machines as carbide.
HSS dirt tends to bind together in the grinding oil and form cotton-like sludge. This sludge settles at the tank bottom and clogs the pumps and chilling unit. Moreover, many cutting tool manufacturers use the same grinding machine for grinding carbide and HSS tools. Thus, the filtration system design must be robust to handle carbide and HSS.
It is a known fact that making carbide cutting tools is more profitable than HSS tools. Hence, HSS tool manufacturers use less expensive grinding oil. However, whatever may be the oil cost, it causes the same harm when allowed to be discarded, unfiltered.
We solve the following problems with our oil filtration systems for tool and cutter grinding machines-
- Our filtration system users experience lower machine downtime, lower expensive machine spares like a spindle, ball screws, etc. lower labor cost since there are no consumables and absolute zero maintenance.
- Our customers also experience higher productivity due to higher speeds that they can set due to the superior, crystal clear oil. Moreover, because of clean oil, the grinding wheel dressing frequency is reduced, leading to lower grinding wheel consumption.
- The crystal-clear oil helps cutting tool manufacturers achieve optimum surface finish values and tolerances.
- Transor has a custom grinding oil filtration system for all the models of major OEMs, including ANCA, Walter, TGT, Widma, and many more.
